GRP Channels

SureGrip supplies a comprehensive range of pultruded GRP Channels, including C-shaped and U-shaped fibreglass sections for industrial, commercial and infrastructure applications. Manufactured from Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), these structural profiles provide a lightweight, durable and corrosion-resistant alternative to traditional steel and aluminium channels.

Our GRP Channel Profiles are suitable for structural frameworks, support members, GRP grating installations, access platforms and industrial fabrication projects. Available in a variety of dimensions, these versatile profiles can be supplied in standard lengths or cut to size to accommodate individual project requirements.

Key Benefits of GRP Channels:

  • Corrosion Resistant: Suitable for wet, coastal and chemically demanding environments.

  • Lightweight: Easier handling, transportation and installation compared with many metal alternatives.

  • Non-Conductive: Provides electrical insulation properties for suitable industrial applications.

  • High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Suitable for engineered structural applications when appropriately specified.

  • Low Maintenance: No routine rust treatment or repainting required.

GRP Channels – Product Overview

GRP Channels are structural profiles manufactured using the pultrusion process, combining continuous glass fibre reinforcement with a thermosetting resin matrix to produce lightweight, durable and dimensionally consistent sections.

Their channel-shaped cross-section comprises a central web and two projecting flanges, allowing the profiles to be incorporated into structural frameworks, supports and fabricated GRP assemblies.

Unlike conventional steel channels, GRP does not rust and offers excellent resistance to moisture, weathering and many chemicals. These characteristics make pultruded GRP channels particularly suitable for industrial and infrastructure applications where corrosion resistance and reduced maintenance requirements are important considerations.

GRP Channel Profiles & Configurations

GRP Channels are available in a variety of dimensions and wall thicknesses to accommodate different structural and installation requirements.

Common configurations include:

  • GRP C Channels: Pultruded channel-shaped sections used for framing, supports and structural fabrication.

  • GRP U Channels: Channel profiles used for edge supports, retaining details, frames and associated GRP installations.

  • Cut-to-Size GRP Channels: Sections supplied to specified lengths for fabrication and installation projects.

Profile selection should consider dimensions, loading requirements, deflection, fixing arrangements and the relevant material specifications.

Typical Applications

GRP Channels are widely used across industrial and infrastructure environments where lightweight, corrosion-resistant structural components are required.

Common applications include:

  • Structural Frameworks: Support members and framing components for fabricated GRP structures.

  • GRP Grating Installations: Supporting members and perimeter frames for suitable grating systems.

  • Industrial Walkways & Platforms: Structural components for access platforms and maintenance walkways.

  • Water & Wastewater Treatment: Corrosion-resistant framing and supports for treatment facilities.

  • Electrical & Utility Infrastructure: Non-metallic structural sections for suitable utility installations.

  • Marine & Coastal Environments: Structural components in locations exposed to moisture, saltwater and weathering.
