Anti Slip GRP Structural Stair Tread
Anti-slip GRP structural stair treads offer a load-bearing stair tread, designed to provide a low maintenance alternative to traditional load-bearing wooden stair treads. The structural GRP stair tread offers an ideal solution for renewal or individual tread replacement projects.
Our products offer corrosion and weather resistant, non-conductive anti-slip solution and require next to no maintenance alternative compared to traditional load-bearing stair treads. Making them ideally suitable for electrified rail environments and for use on footfall footbridges.
Available in 65mm or 90mm thicknesses and span up to 2.1 metres.
- Exceptional slip resistance – Twice the industry standard.
- High visual sightlines incorporated to ensure DDA compliance.
- Square Nosed and Rake Back nosing profiles available.
- Hard-wearing and long-lasting.
- Ideal Alternative To Traditional Load-Bearing Stair Treads
- Manufactured Within The UK In Accordance With ISO 9001:2015

Our 65mm structural stair tread plank flooring is a pultruded three-piece construction the system features a built-in interlocking riser which can be removed if required. The system makes it quick and easy to install and an in-built fall to disperse water for drainage and stop pooling it has a fall of 10mm to 6mm on the top tread section front to back.
The unique system is ideal in a range of industries. It is designed as a unique modular system allowing the servicer enormous flexibility both at the design stage and on-site.
SureGRP Structural Stair Treads are available in 65mm or 90mm thicknesses. The structural stair tread system is designed to adapt to the two most usual timber stair component sizes in common usage, which are 75mm and 100mm. Therefore considering the design, we allocate a 65mm interlocking adjustment from tread to tread, meaning replacement of degraded timber is easy.
Available in any colour, our structural treads will help you achieve DDA compliance (available in any colour treads with yellow or white nosing). The high visibility nosing highlights the leading edge of the step or up to 320mm goings-on the treads.
It is manufactured from a pultruded 40mm core section, with a 10mm GRP plate for the underside rear riser section (Up to 170mm) & a single piece additional 10mm GRP Plate with a fabricated nosing which is integrated to the front. A Graded quartz grit is then encapsulated into the surface, to provide an abrasive, durable, surface.
Where normal anti-slip treads on the market have been restricted in span capabilities, SureGRP structural stair treads have the ability to span up to 2.1m clear open span, achieving the required 5kN/m2 at L/300 deflection which means that additional supports can be avoided in most situations.
The product is fixed together using stainless steel clamping bars underneath fixed to pins using stainless steel domed head nuts.

Our product has been accepted and approved by Network Rail. It has been installed in a number of train stations nationwide.
We have also worked with British Airways to supply and install our structural stair tread for passenger staircases.
Load Testing:
Load testing of the panel 1500mm x 320mm was undertaken and loaded with a point load at the centre.
The load test was undertaken to failure which was 3.5 Tonne ( 35K/N ). We note that the specification in prefabricated systems is of sustaining a point load of ½ a Tonne ( 5K/N ).
